Wow, this is pretty powerful. Being in New York, an already diverse city, we still see this issue raised. But don’t you feel this issue, whether intentional or not, is being opposed by the rise of non-denominational churches? People are starting to flock to these church, which leave out which denominations beliefs they follow, and now you are seeing many catholics, protestants and other denominations worshiping together. Just a question.
I think we live in an age that is starting to combat this, but even in non-denom churches, race is a significant issue, and if it isn’t race, then it may be socioeconomic issues. I think the idea is to work towards being less cliquely and having a unity that transcends our visual perception. The sad truth is, even though we’re progressing in a good direction, there are still a significant amount of churches that are very secluded and segregated to themselves. Also, I don’t think the intent is becoming one giant church, because that could lead to corruption and division, but a church that celebrates it’s uniqueness and doesn’t dismiss other churches because of it.
